 Research in AAC
The Department of Communication Disorders has an expansive research
program directed toward improving clinical practice and enhancing
outcomes for individuals who use AAC. Faculty, students, and individuals
who use AAC work together to carry out meaningful research projects
and disseminate useful information.
Penn State is a partner in the AAC-RERC
(Augmentative and Alternative Communication Rehabilitation
Engineering Research Center). The AAC-RERC is a partnership dedicated
to assisting individuals who use AAC by advancing and promoting
AAC technologies and supporting the individuals that use, manufacture,
and recommend them. The AAC-RERC is funded by the National
Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR,
Grant #H133E980026).
